1) First off, lemme start with The Libertines. It's a long story here; well you see Pete Doherty was in the band along with his bestie when they broke up in around 2003?? Thanks to Peter's infinite crack habit, Carl Barat kicked him outta the band and surprise, surprise Carl himself didn't do any drugs. Serious sh!t; though when I was teenie bopper that already loved several indie acts; never once in my life I thought of checking any music associated with Pete coz I have no respect & interest in junkie! The Libertines; listen up! They are far better than The Vines, Arctic Monkeys, Stereophonics, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, The Killers, you name it! My personal faves: Up The Bracket, What Became of the Likely Lads, Mayday, and lots more..
2) Post-The Libertines: Babyshambles were formed by Pete while Dirty Pretty Things by Carl and the rest of ex-Libertines! Babyshambles music: wow the junkie does get much inspiration writing great melodies by getting HIGH!! DPT's Bang Bang You're Dead rocks!!!!!!!!!!! Kyaa!! Carl Ashley Raphael Barat is so officially my rock god!! Though they were on-off, yeah Pete had a tatt on his neck; Ashle which is Carl's mid name! Both got Libertine tatt on their arms, so I guess these best buds had reconciled..thoughts????? :o The official photog; Roger Sargent had also mentioned that they should really get a room coz they were so close and lovey-dovey!! Hahaha, when you get too close, you tend to fight more with best buds.

3) Enough about the Brits, hm the American The Blood Arm sounds better than Franz Ferdinand, frankly...

6) I've reverted back to my indie, garage post-punk roots after drifting away in metalcore and screamo music for sometime hahahhah..

Hawthorne Heights

Hawthorne Heights dibentuk di Dayton, Ohio pada Juni 2001. Pada awalnya band mereka bernama A day in the life tetapi berganti namanya seiring permainan musiknya dan lineup yang turut berubah.

Setelah satu album Nine Reasons to Say Goodbye (EP), Paper Chromatography (yang nanti dirilis kembali sebagai sebagian himpunan dari Ohio With Love), A day in the life, berubah formasi dan merubah nama band menjadi Hawthorne Heights.
Bagian DVD The Silence in Black and White, drummer Eron Bucciarelli menyebutkan bahwa nama band mereka terinspirasi dari pengarang Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Album pertama mereka The Silence in Black and White dirilis pada 2004.
pada awalnya penjualan album mereka cukup lambat, tapi, segera video untuk lagu Ohio Is for Lovers mulai membantu meningkatkan rating MTV, hingga akhirnya mereka menikmati keberhasilan , dan jumlah fans dari seluruh negara juga semakin meningkat, yang membuat album dengan penjualan paling tinggi di Victory Records.

Waktu album ketiga mereka if only You Were Lonely dirilis pada 28 Feb, 2006, band mereka juga mendapat kesempatan untuk tampil di 2006 Nintendo Fusion Tour.

Pada 16 Oktober, 2007, Wild Justice Records menuntut Hawthorne Heights untuk pemutusan kontrak kerjasamanya.

Kematian Casey Calvert

Pada saat tur utama mereka dengan Escape the Fate, Amber Pacific, The Secret Handshake, dan The A.K.A'S di Washington, D.C., gitaris Casey Calvert ditemukan tewas di atas bus yang membawa tur mereka pada 24 November, 2007.
kejadian ini terjadi setelah tur diDetroit, Michigan. sehari sebelumnya

laporan Toksikologi dan bedah mayat negara bagian menyatakan Calvert meninggal dikarenakan overdosis obat terlarang.

Pernyataan resmi yang dikeluarkan oleh Band mengatakan bahwa Calvert meninggal di tempat tidurnya dan bahwa mayatnya ditemukan sebelum rombongan seharusnya melakukan check sound sebelum pameran di Washington, DC. jam 09:30

Gitaris Hawthorne Heights Casey Calvert meninggal karena "efek gabungan opium yang parah, citalopram dan clonazepam," menurut hasil Tim forensik bedah mayat menyatakan kematian Calvert murni kecelakaan.


Drummer Eron Bucciarelli mengeluarkan pernyataan berikut:

"Disaat insiden kami mencurigai interaksi obat mungkin sebagai sebab.
Casey selalu bergelut dengan depresi selama kami mengenalnya.
Dia pergi ke banyak dokter dan selalu berganti2 obat yang untuk membuatnya lebih baik, sampai akhirnya depresi yang dia alami tak terkontrol.
Menurut laporan toksikologi, sebab kematian disebabkan oleh interaksi yang fatal antara depresi meds, kegelisahan meds dan opium.

Apa yang tidak ditunjukkan oleh laporan toksikologi ialah bahwa sebelum kami meninggalkan untuk tur, Casey mempunyai kanal akar, dan ditentukan Vicodin (opium) untuk pereda rasa sakit."

Sekali lagi, Casey tidak dilibatkan tentang ilegal atau dia adalah seorang penyalahguna bahan.
JT Woodruff sudah menyebutkan bahwa "Kami tidak akan menambahkan pemain gitar lain atau menambahkan lain screamer", dan bahwa "di album kami, akan selalu 'Casey Calvert: gitar/vocals.'" katanya .

"Bucciarelli menyebutkan di wawancara lain bahwa, Kami tidak memerlukan lain screamer... Jika penggemar ingin teriakan, mereka bisa menyediakannya sendiri."

Saat ini Hawthorne Heights sudah menulis 21 lagu untuk album mereka yang ketiga, dan "mulai bergairah untuk merekam." Tetapi, CD ketiga tidak bisa dirilis sampai persoalan hukum mereka diselesaikan.

Hawthorne Heights baru merilis demo untuk lagu baru mereka "Come Back Home" di MySpace.
lagu ini adalah satu di antara empat belas track yang akan dimasukkan di album baru mereka.
Lagu kedua yang dipublikasikan di Myspace adalah,"Bullet With Butterfly Wings" yang merupakan cover dari Smashing Pumpkins, Serta lagu "Come Back Home," dua lagu baru lain, "Rescue Me" dan "The End Of The Underground" .

Alesana

ALESANA, mereka sebelumnya adalah sekumpulan pemuda yang mulai bermain musik bersama di Baltimore, Maryland, Dan mereka secara resmi terbentuk pada Oktober 2004 di Raleigh, North Carolina, yang pada masa awalnya mereka cukup tenar secara lokal.

Alesana juga merupakan band pertama yang berkesempatan untuk join dengan Tragic Hero Records di tahun 2005, dan melepaskan debut EP mereka, Try This With Your Eyes Closed , pada Juni tahun itu.
Mereka juga melakukan tour di penjuru Amrik, termasuk ikut serta pada Festival Cornerstone Festival, pada 2006, dan merekrut drummer baru dan seorang adisional gitar dan vokal.

pada musim panas 2006,Mereka meluncurka full album mereka yang pertama, On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax. Banyak lagu Di album tersebut yang terinspirasi dari mitologi Yunani.

Pada akhir 2006, mereka melakukan kontrak rekaman dengan Fearless Records, yang merilis kembali LP mereka pada Maret 2007.

Saat ini Alesana sedang mengerjakan rekaman baru mereka yang diharapkan diselesaikan menjelang akhir Maret 2008. dengan formasi band saat ini adalah sebagai berikut :

Band yang mulai mencuat ini adalah hasil bentukan dari 2 orang inti yang dimulai sejak SMU, awalnya oleh guitarist Mike Frisby dan drummer Matt Traynor, lalu dengan berjalannya waktu mereka bertemu dengan Craig Mabbit yang akhirnya mengisi vocal, dan bassist Jared Warth yang membentuk BlessTheFall di tahun 2004 mereka merilis 3 track demo mereka di pertengahan 2005, dengan mengajak guitarist Eric Lambert.

di awal karirnya band ini sempet mangung bareng Greeley Estate lalu, Alesana dan Norma Jean di penjuru US dan Canada. album terbarunya di tahun 2007 ini adalah His Last Walk, yang tepatnya dirilis tanggal 10 April 2007.

Eyes Set to Kill

Eyes Set to Kill dibentuk tahun 2003 oleh 2 bersaudara Alexia dan Anissa ( Guitar/Vocals dan Bass) Rodriguez, dan Lindsey Vogt(Ex-Vocalist). Pada awalnya band mereka sempat diabaikan dan yang ditampik oleh musisi yang sudah eksis duluan di kota mereka Tempe, Arizona. “ banyak orang menganggap kita hanya serombongan cewek yang tidak punya bakat bermain musik, karena kita adalah anak-anak perempuan, tak seorangpun menanggapi dengan serius dan mengira bahwa kita tidak bisa bermain dan menulis lagu dengan baik,” Kata Lindsey Vogt .

Kemudian di tahun 2004 Mereka menemukan Milad ( Drum), Spencer ( Screamer), dan Zack( Lead Gitar). sejak formasi band yang baru ini terbentuk Eyes Set to Kill kerap mengikuti acara yang diadakan oleh komunitas punk-rock dan hardcore. Mereka juga sempat merekam tiga lagu andalannya, yaitu Darling, Flight On Broken Wings dan Bitter Pill, dan mempublikasikannya di Myspace dan Purevolume.

Di bulan Agustus 2007, mereka dimuat di Alternatif press berkenaan dengan pemain drum baru ( Caleb), screamer ( Brandon, yang juga memainkan keyboard), dan gitaris, (" Metal" Greg) setelah mereka merekam suatu EP yang bertitel When Silence Is Broken The Night Is Torn yang kemudian menjadi hit di halaman Myspace.


Selama Juli 2007 , ketika EP mereka sudah dirilis, Lindsey meninggalkan band. Alexia memutuskan untuk mengisi Vokal, dan para fans nya sendiri Optimis dan terus men-support dan mereka percaya akan perubahan yang lebih baik untuk Eyes Set To Kill dan pada bulan yang sama mereka juga mendapat kesempatan untuk mengikuti Smart Punk's contest untuk bermain di Warped Tour, dan mereka menang.

kini mereka adalah salah satu band yang paling banyak diminati oleh para fansnya di myspace, dan info terbaru Eyes Set To Kill akan meluncurkan album terbarunya yang bertitel "Reach" di bulan februari, dan saat ini mereka sedang melakukan tour untuk promo albumnya.

Story Of the Year : persiapan buat album terbarunya [2008]

Story of the Year (a.k.a. Story or SOTY) adalah post-hardcore/Punk rock band yang berasal dari St. Louis tahun 1995, SOTY terdiri dari Dan Marsala (vocals), Ryan Phillips (lead guitar), Philip Sneed (rhythm guitar, vocals), Adam Russell (bass) and Josh Wills (drums).

Mereka cukup sukses dengan debut albumnya yang sudah masuk mayor label seperti album pertamanya Page Avenue, dengan hit single "Until the Day I Die" dan "Anthem of Our Dying Day". Album keduanya, In the Wake of Determination, yang diluncurkan tahun 2005, gak begitu meledak di pasaran seperti album sebelomnya.

Kabar terbaru dari mereka 29 Oktober 2007 kemaren Story of the Year resmi mengakhiri kontrak rekamannya dengan Maverick Records dan beralih ke Epitaph Untuk menyelesaikan album terbarunya yang akan di rilis 2008 (taon ini rencananya, tapi gw lom tau pastinya bulan apa :)

Converge adalah sebuah band yang berasal dari Salem, Massachusetts. terbentuk pada musim dingin taon 1990. pada awal bermusiknya mereka kerap membawakan lagu-lagu hardcore punk, punk rock dan heavy metal, being self-confessed "hardcore kids with leftover Slayer riffs". yang akhirnya membentuk gaya permainan musik mereka sendiri setelah merekam 4 demo lagunya di taon 1991

Permainan musik mereka adalah campuran dari hardcore punk dan extreme metal. musik mereka yang sedikit menyimpang ini membuat bentuk aliran baru yang masih berbasik pada metalcore genre.

Converge sendiri terinfluen dari hardcore punk band, diantaranya Black Flag, Negative Approach, The Accused dan Born Againstserta band metal seperti like Black Sabbath, Godflesh, Slayer, dan Entombed; dan proto-metalcore bands Starkweather and Rorschach. Gaya bermusik band ini consist mempertahankan ciri permainan gitar yang complex dan off-time polyrhythmic drumming, ditambah ciri permainan leadnya yang lebih condong ke arah mathcore, seperti yang mereka tonjolkan di album Jane Doe.

Namun sampai saat ini, masih banyak perdebatan dari para fansnya, tentang apa tepatnya genre yang dibawakan oleh gaya bermusik mereka hardcore atau metal??!. . .

Aiden album Conviction

AIDEN, band yang berasal dari Seattle ini kembali merilis album terbarunya yang bertitel "Conviction", dalam proses rekamannya sendiri mereka begitu berhati-hati dalam memasukan unsur "full dark"-musiknya yang dipadukan dan dikemas dengan nuansa danceable sing-along anthems dan diselingi beat-beat yang penuh emosi dan distorsi khas aiden seperti aransemen didalam lagu "one love" yang menjadi hit single di album ini.

Permainan piano yang sederhana tapi lebih nge-soul, mengawali lagu “The Opening Departure” membuat nuansa lebih lembut , seperti juga diawal lagunya yang "The Sky Is Falling".

Di album ini permainan musik aiden sedikit berbeda dari album-album sebelumnya, tapi masih memasukkan karakter skatepunk-yang terinfluence goth seperti Love Equals Death dengan teknik bermusik seperti lacking shadenya strong out dan mixed in-nya Rufio.

Tapi bagaimanapun juga menurut gue musik yang di album Conviction tetep keren, meski gak segarang album2 sebelumnya, namun sentuhan soul dalam album ini masih memiliki ciri khas musik Aiden

Biography: Nobody wants to have to grow up in public. But when you’re young, talented and creating something that strikes a chord with enough people, sometimes you’ve got no choice. For the members of All Time Low, who cut two strong indie releases and inked their Hopeless Records deal before they’d even finished high school, that’s just the path they had to take. And with their new album, So Wrong, It’s Right, these 2006 graduates from the Baltimore suburbs prove they’re growing up just fine.


Produced by Matt Squire(Panic! At the Disco, Cute Is What We Aim For), with help from the band’s longtime collaborator Paul Leavitt (Over It), So Wrong, It’s Right finds All Time Low cranking out 12 infectious, impeccably played slabs of classic pop-punk that recall ATL’s early inspirations (Blink-182, New Found Glory) as much as they push the whole genre forward. “A lot of bands that start out being called ‘pop-punk’ either shy away from the term or end up trying to force their sound in a different direction,” singer/guitarist Alex Gaskarth explains. “We’re proud of who we are, and we’re trying to take pop-punk back to where it used to be: a place that’s about having fun, being positive and building a community.”

Since forming in 2003 when Gaskarth and guitarist Jack Barakat teamed up with bassist Zack Merrick and drummer Rian Dawson, All Time Low have steadily risen to the center of that community. With a four-song EP and an album, The Party Scene (both on the Maryland indie Emerald Moon), under their belts, the band kicked off their first national touring campaign in 2005, supporting like-minded headliners such as Plain White T’s, the Early November and Motion City Soundtrack. And in 2006, after one of those tourmates, Amber Pacific, brokered a meeting with their label, All Time Low signed to the label and released their Hopeless debut, the Put Up Or Shut Up EP. Though it drew on older material, Put Up Or Shut Up was a breath of fresh air for the genre, winning critical acclaim from outlets such as AbsolutePunk.net (which beamed, “Say hello to your new favorite pop-punk band”) and Aversion.com.

Between Put Up Or Shut Up’s release and their high-school graduation, All Time Low finally had the freedom to hit the road full-time, and over the next year they’d share stages with bands like Sugarcult, Cute Is What We Aim For and Hit The Lights, in addition to bringing their fun, freewheeling stage show (“We try to make every show feel like a party,” Gaskarth says) to the 2007 Bamboozle and Warped Tour festivals. “When you’re out there on the road and you’re going out on what can be pretty massive tours for the first time, it really keeps you grounded,” Gaskarth says of the band’s ascent through the touring ranks. “You’re surrounded at all times by this huge, diverse group of people with all these amazing experiences to share, and you’re always learning from them. It really gives you a chance to find yourself.”

And that they did. While it has the same loose, energetic spirit that fueled Put Up Or Shut Up, So Wrong, It’s Right reflects the tremendous musical growth All Time Low have experienced in the past few years. And as Gaskarth notes, working with Squire as their producer also forced the band to step up their game. “We went into the sessions with 15 songs, and Matt was like, ‘Okay, these three songs are great, and the rest suck,’” he remembers, laughing. “But it was the perfect outside opinion to get, because Matt has a great ear for what we want to be writing, which is really solid pop-rock songs. It forced us to go back and make the rest of the album that much stronger.”

From the fist-pumping first single “Six Feet Under The Stars” (which Gaskarth describes as “about regrettably drinking Jäger with someone you used to have a relationship with”) and the SoCal-style punk volley of “This Is How We Do,” down to the acoustic lament “Remembering Sunday,” So Wrong, It’s Right proves why magazines as far-ranging as Metal Hammer and Alternative Press (which in 2007 declared ATL one of “100 Bands You Need To Know” in its annual cover special) have cozied up alongside fans to embrace the band. And while Gaskarth’s lyrics are tongue-in-cheek clever and rich with wordplay in tracks such as the driving, multilayered “Holly (Would You Turn Me On?),” he’s also grown in some impressive new ways. “I’m not just writing about the everyday things that happen to me anymore, although there’s still some of that in these songs,” he says. “I’ve started to become more of a storyteller.”
All Time Low’s story may just be starting, but with So Wrong, It’s Right, the band have added a new chapter that feels destined to be a classic. “We’re still doing just what we set out to do, which was to have fun and celebrate this style of music that we all grew up listening to,” Gaskarth says. “But at the same time, we’re growing up as a band, and it feels like we’ve finally found ourselves with this album.”

Taste Of Chaos episode #2: Aiden
Something wicked this way comes. From the foggy majesty of Seattle, Washington comes Aiden, a young band who meld punk, post-hardcore and goth influences into a lethal stew that recalls the best of bands like AFI and H.I.M. With music that defies categorization, Aiden dubbed it horror rock, defining once and for all the dark lyrical influences and vital energy displayed both live and on disc. Nightmare Anatomy is Aidens Victory Records debut: a heavy clash of hardcore and up tempo melodies that belies songs with decidedly grim themes.

Aiden began in the spring of 2003 by four friends from Seattle, WA - Jake W., Angel, Jake D. and Will - as more of a fun hobby than an effort to take over the world. With only 5 songs written, Aiden played their first show in July, 2003 at a pizza joint in downtown Seattle. Taking their name from a horror movie called The Ring, Aiden had a few line-up changes early on: singer wiL was originally the bands bassist, and switched to vocals when the original singer left the band. After adding Nick to play bass, the final unit was rock solid. Aiden went into the studio in December 2004 with producer Steve Carter and the result was their debut full length titled Our Gangs Dark Oath. The boys took it into their own hands to make cd samplers of some of their new material and passed out over 2,000 copies of the two song demos at shows around Seattle.
